Supporting the Homeless at Christmas

Living on the streets can be a lonely time for someone who is homeless, often having no contact with friends or family. During the festive season when 'we' are surrounded by our loved ones in our warm and safe place, the homeless are not only battling loneliness but the weather, illness, starvation and many associated dangers when vulnerable - can you imagine, I can't!

"Our army of Tin On A Wall volunteers, collect food donations every month for a number of charities and community groups, BUT in December, our volunteers went even further!!!  They made up gifts for the Destiny StreetWorx Christmas Shoe Box/Gift Bag Appeal, for men, women and dogs. Giving the homeless a small gift at Christmas it shows that someone cares.  Our volunteers gifted over 60 BOXES / BAGS! I was lucky enough to go out with the charity on 23rd December to give these out to the homeless.

Thank you all so so much, you are all such lovely people. We also gave them almost 100 selection boxes too! "

Jay Kewley from Monkseaton High School who made and sold snacks to raise money to buy food for us in December before breaking up for the Christmas holidays. He raised around £90 through the support of pupils and staff, which bought 63kg of food which was delivered to Cedarwood Trust, where Jay often volunteers on Tin On A Wall Saturdays. Thank you so much Jay, so very thoughtful for you to do this for us!!! Jay's donations picturedwith Cedarwood's Elf Hazel.

A massive thank you to Yamaha Music School who hosted a donation box for us for the last few weeks, this box is MASSIVE!

A lovely lady called Sandra donated £30 via our PayPal account towards our Christmas Collection. I read a plea from our friends Feeding Families, so I knew exactly how I could use Sandra's donation to make a difference. I picked up 55 packets of Cream Crackers, which will be delivered to Feeding Families. I think the click and collect lad thought I was a bit crackers.   Thank you Sandra, your donation will go into 55 food boxes.
